At Brooks School, we believe that great teams are formed when players are connected to one another, invested in a common purpose and committed to pursuing excellence together. One of the guiding beliefs of our program is that girls compete at their highest level when they are deeply connected to one another. That belief serves as a cornerstone of our culture and informs how we build relationships, develop leaders, and pursue success on and off the field.

The mission of Brooks girls soccer is to develop confident, skilled and resilient young women who strive for excellence on and off the field. We seek to create an environment where players are challenged daily, supported by their teammates and empowered to take ownership of their growth. Our program is built on high standards, accountability, humility and a commitment to continuous improvement. We believe that demanding excellence and fostering strong relationships are not competing priorities — they are essential partners in building successful teams.

Brooks is proud to offer three levels of girls soccer, each competing against strong independent school competition while contributing to a unified program culture. Every player, regardless of level, is challenged to develop technically, tactically, physically and mentally. Through purposeful training, video analysis, strength and conditioning, and individualized feedback, we strive to maximize each player's potential while preparing our teams to compete at the highest levels of New England soccer.

The tradition of Brooks girls soccer is one of excellence. Competing in the Independent School League (ISL), the program has established itself as one of the region's premier programs, winning multiple ISL championships and the 2012 Class A New England Championship. Brooks alumnae have continued their careers at some of the nation's most prestigious academic and athletic institutions, including programs in the ACC, SEC, Ivy League, NESCAC and UAA. Our goal is to honor that tradition while continuing to help players pursue their aspirations at the collegiate and elite youth levels.

Head Coach Brendon Barrios brings a passion for player development and culture-building developed through years of coaching in independent school and elite club environments. A graduate of Virginia Tech and Old Dominion University, Barrios holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National “C” License, eight United Soccer Coaches special topics diplomas, including the National Federation of State High School Associations diploma and Talent Identification certification from the English Football Association.

Prior to arriving at Brooks in 2026, Barrios served as the boys and girls varsity soccer program head at Virginia Episcopal School, where he helped restore both programs to state and conference prominence. During his tenure, the girls program earned three consecutive VISAA state playoff appearances, three conference semifinal appearances and a VISAA state quarterfinal berth, while climbing as high as sixth in the state rankings. He also helped guide the boys program back to the state playoffs and into the state's top ten rankings. Throughout his career, Barrios has helped dozens of student-athletes achieve their goal of playing collegiate soccer and has been fortunate enough to coach players who have advanced through the U.S. Women's National Team development pathway. His coaching philosophy centers on the belief that strong relationships, demanding standards and a commitment to individual growth are the foundation of sustained team success.

At Brooks, success is measured by more than wins and championships. It is reflected in the relationships players build, the standards they uphold and the people they become. Our goal is to create an environment where student-athletes are challenged, supported and inspired to pursue excellence together — and where the bonds formed through the game last long after the final whistle.
