Lehman Art Center

Attached to the Henry Luce III Library, the Robert Lehman Art Center opened in 1995. The 2,300-square-foot gallery hosts a number of exhibits annually. In previous years, art history classes and architectural design classes have met in the seminar and viewing room in the building's lower level. Financial support for the art center came from the Robert Lehman Foundation, with special encouragement from Robin Lehman ’55, a well-known artist and filmmaker.

This Lehman schedule of exhibits includes many different mediums, and while it will likely be expanded as the year continues, the following is a list of shows already booked. Be sure to check back for updates.

The gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to Noon. The gallery is closed during school holidays and vacations, including Nov. 5 and Nov. 17–26. Admission is free. Please direct all questions about the RLAC to Director Amy Graham at (978) 918-1036.

Robert Lehman Art Center Mission Statement
The mission of the Robert Lehman Art Center (RLAC) is focused upon the convergence of high quality professional artists and their work with Brooks School students and the greater Brooks School community.  We aim to engage students, teachers, employees, parents and alumni and their guests in the viewing, participation, understanding and benefit of all art forms, with a particular emphasis on visual art.
Each school year we exhibit an average of five artists who display work in the gallery for four to six weeks, participate in a formal show opening, and work with our students in the studios for a week. Artists are selected to represent a broad range of styles, media and content. We consider carefully a balance of age, gender, race, and level of notoriety in choosing artists. It is important that each artist produces strong work and is able to interact with high school students in a clear, positive and effective manner.
It is our hope that Brooks School students and alumni will engage in and build relationships with artists, and lead to both formal and informal mentorship opportunities beyond the physical walls of the campus.
The gallery is located in the center of campus, attached to the Luce Library. It is important that the space is accessible to the entire community, and its hours of operation coincide with class time; often exhibitions are presented in an interdisciplinary fashion for faculty in all departments to connect the work with their lessons.
