Saul Iwowo ’22 Caps Off Collegiate Career as Soccer All-American

Alumni in Athletics: Kicking off a new calendar year, Brooks is taking a look back at our alumni who continued their sports success in college this fall with a four-part series. For more coverage of Brooks School’s alumni, check out the Brooks Bulletin.

Saul Iwowo ’22 ended his collegiate soccer career as well as anyone could have this November, leading the Dickinson College Red Devils to their first league championship since 2011, while also scoring game-winning goals in the second and third rounds of the NCAA championships.

He brought his team on another deep NCAA tournament run before finally bowing out in the Elite Eight on penalty kicks.

His efforts this season (which included a team-leading 17 goals, nine game-winning goals and 38 total points) earned him his second straight Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year nomination, as well as placement on the United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American squad — something he had yet to do in his career after being named to the second team last year.

“I had very high aspirations, which pushed me to work towards goals that for some might sound crazy, but that ambition pushed me,” said Saul. “It’s honestly pretty surreal when thinking about those accomplishments. I can’t help but think about all of the people who helped me along the way to achieve those things.”

In the end, he finished off his time at Dickinson with 86 games played, 53 goals, 21 assists and 127 total points. Iwowo took 257 shots, with 129 of them on net, scored 22 game-winning goals, went 6-7 on PK’s in his career and played 6,441 minutes in a Red Devil uniform.

That career was good enough for two All-American nominations (First Team in 2025 and Second Team in 2024), two Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year Awards (2024 and 2025), four All-Centennial conference selections (First Team in 2023, 2024, and 2025 and honorable mention in 2022), multiple all-region selections and multiple Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Reflecting on his time at Brooks, Iwowo gave thanks to many who worked with him back on Great Pond Road.

“I would like to acknowledge all of my teammates who were a part of the boys varsity soccer team from when I was a freshman all the way to my senior year,” he said. “I played with many great players who inspired me to want to be better and work harder to have the same impact as they did; players like Christian Bejar ‘22, Andrew Kempe ‘19, Harry Bertos ‘23. I could genuinely go on forever."

"Also," he added, "Coach Willie Waters ‘02, Coach Ayo Iwuagwu ‘09, and my advisor Andy Campbell. They all had an everlasting effect on me, not just as a soccer player but as a man, too. They taught me the keys to success and that it was rooted in dedication and resilience. They took me in like I was a son to them and made me feel like I was at home. I can’t say thank you enough, as it really changed my life.”
