Meet Our New Student Life Dean and Field Hockey Coach!

Brooks School is proud to announce the appointment of Jennifer Weissbach as the school’s new dean of student life and head coach of girls 1st field hockey.

Weissbach joins Brooks with more than 12 years in independent school leadership, from teaching and working in residential life to coaching at the highest levels of prep-school athletics. Most recently, she served at Phillips Academy Andover as cluster dean in the dean of students' office, biology instructor, head varsity girls basketball coach and assistant varsity field hockey coach.

During her time at Andover, Weissbach helped lead the field hockey program to consecutive NEPSAC Class A Championships in 2024 and 2025, finishing both seasons with undefeated, 19-0 records.

Known for her ability to build strong team culture, foster accountability and develop student-athletes on and off the field, she has established herself as one of the most respected coaches in New England prep school athletics. 

Weissbach has also served as the head varsity girls basketball coach at Andover for the past three seasons. She recently helped make program history by reaching the Class A semifinals and securing an 18-9 record, earning recognition from New England Basketball Journal as the NEPSAC Class A coach of the year.

Before her time at Andover, Weissbach spent nine years at The Hill School, where she served as director of residential life, science instructor and head coach of varsity field hockey and varsity girls basketball. During her tenure, she led The Hill School field hockey program to a No. 1 national ranking, a No. 1 Pennsylvania ranking and the program’s first-ever Pennsylvania Independent School State Championship, along with numerous Mid-Atlantic Prep League Championships.

She was named PA Prep Live Field Hockey Coach of the Year in 2019 and 2022. She was also named MAX Field Hockey Pennsylvania State and Region Coach of the Year in 2022. 

Across her coaching career, Weissbach has helped place more than 30 student-athletes into NCAA Division I, II and III programs, including 12 All-Americans.

Her coaching philosophy emphasizes skill development, resilience, teamwork and creating environments where athletes feel empowered to grow through both success and adversity.

Weissbach earned a Bachelor of Arts in neuroscience from Dartmouth College, where she was a four-year member and captain of the field hockey team.

She also holds a Master’s degree in Private School Leadership from Columbia University and has completed advanced leadership coursework through the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Business School Certificate in School Management and Leadership program.

“I am so grateful for the opportunity to join the Brooks School community,” said Weissbach (above meeting Brooks’ field hockey players this spring). “Simply put, this is a special place and I feel inspired to join a community that truly prioritizes building the most meaningful educational experience for its students.”

“As a coach, I believe deeply in the power of teaching and learning through sport,” she added. “There is no doubt about the long-lasting impact that playing on a team can have, both on the individual and community, during our students’ time at Brooks and beyond. I am thrilled to have the chance to build this kind of space at Brooks next year and in the years to come.”

Weissbach has already begun getting acquainted with the field hockey team and officially began her new roles at Brooks on July 1. 

As the incoming dean of student life, she will live on campus with her wife, Sabrina, who currently serves as the wellness department chair at The Winsor School in Boston.
