Shaking hands, meeting-and-greeting admitted families and current students during the bustling Revisit Days’ activities fair in the athletic center this week, one new Brooksian stood out: Football Coach Spencer Emerson.

Director of Athletics Andrea Heinze announced Emerson’s hiring on April 1 and the University of Maine graduate (who has a master’s degree in sport management from Southern New Hampshire University) has been getting acquainted with players ever since, in preparation for his official start on July 1.
“We're thrilled to welcome Spencer to our community,” Heinze said of Emerson, who was recognized as Maine’s Pine Tree Conference Coach of the Year in 2024. While head coach of the Falmouth, Maine, high school squad, his team went undefeated, with an 11-0 record, and earned their first state championship win in the school’s history.
“His proven success as a head coach, combined with his extensive experience at the collegiate level, makes him an exceptional fit for our program,” she added. “He is a relationship-driven leader who understands how to develop student-athletes on and off the field.”

Before coaching at Falmouth, Emerson held coaching positions at collegiate programs including the University of Chicago, Georgetown University, Bates College and the University of New England.
At the University of Chicago, Emerson served as assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator, helping lead one of the top offensive units in the Midwest Conference.

Brooks football's former leader, Associate Director of Admission and Director of Financial Aid Patrick Foley, stepped down from his role as head coach in December, after 13 years running the football program.
Throughout his career, Emerson has been recognized for his ability to develop players, implement effective game strategies and recruit high-achieving student-athletes.
In addition to his coaching experience, he has worked in college admissions, serving as assistant director of undergraduate admissions at the University of New England. In that role, Emerson managed staff, coordinated recruitment efforts and evaluated prospective students.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead the football program at Brooks School,” he said this week. “From the moment I stepped on campus, it was clear how much excitement and connection exist within this community. I’m excited to build meaningful relationships with our players and help them grow as athletes, but more importantly as people.”
