Campbell Takes Over at the Helm for Boys Ice Hockey
The Brooks School Athletics Department is thrilled to announce that Andy Campbell P’28, who currently serves as dean of college counseling, has been elevated from assistant coach to head coach of the boys 1st ice hockey program.
A familiar and respected member of the Brooks community, Campbell steps into the role with extensive playing, coaching and educational experience, along with a strong understanding of the program and its student-athletes.

“Coach Campbell is not just a student of the game, but someone who has lived it at the highest levels and knows our program inside and out,” said Director of Athletics Andrea Heinze. “As a dedicated member of our faculty, he already embodies the values of our school community. Now he brings that same commitment to excellence and mentorship to the top leadership role on the ice.”
Campbell’s hockey pedigree is both widespread and distinguished. A proud alumnus of Middlebury College, he was a four-year member of the men’s ice hockey team, won three NESCAC Championships, competed in two NCAA Frozen Four tournaments and contributed to Middlebury’s 1999 NCAA Division III National Championship team. He also spent one season as a member of the baseball program.

Campbell joined the Brooks community in 2012, following stints at Lake Forest College and the Hotchkiss School. (He lives on campus with his wife Diana, their two children, Baylie ’28 and Riley, and their two golden retrievers, Emmet and Gorgie.)
He had an immediate impact on the ice hockey program as a member of the 2013 coaching staff that led Brooks to a NEPSAC Small School Championship and an ISL Eberhart Championship, as well as the NEPSAC Large School Championship in 2015.
He also served as the head coach of the Brooks boys 1st baseball team from 2018 to 2023.
“It will be great to stay with the team," he said. "[I'll be] a little bit of a different role, but the foundation of Brooks hockey is now well established and I feel lucky to take on the head coaching position."
As far as his take on the team, Campbell added, "There are a lot of great kids who are part of the team and it will be fun to see what we can do next year and beyond.”
