Brooks Volleyball Opens Season with Sweep of Marianapolis
The Brooks School 1st volleyball team opened its 2026 season and home schedule with a straight-set victory over Marianapolis Preparatory School, earning a 27-25, 25-16, 25-15 win on McVeigh Court on Wednesday.

The opening set was a back-and-forth battle before Brooks secured a 27-25 victory. The momentum carried into the second and third sets, as the home team pulled away for 25-16 and 25-15 wins to complete the sweep.
“In the first set, the lead kept changing hands, but the team locked in and showed a lot of grit to come back and win that first set," said Head Coach Chelsea Clater. "That effort helped propel us through two strong victories in the second and third sets. It was an awesome way to start the season.”
The service game was a major factor in the season-opening win. Brooks recorded 21 aces, with Aditi Palle '27 leading the way with seven. Brooke Fitzmaurice '30 added four aces, while Abby Hutchinson '29 and Izzy Shlain '29 each recorded three.

Shlain also helped lead the Brooks offense, with nine assists, and finished with a team-best .667 hitting percentage. Palle contributed three kills, while Morgan Howard '28 and Amiyah Martin '29 each added two.
Brooks also controlled the net, with Kenzie Moore '28 and Virginia Cappello-Mitchell '29 combining for all six of the team’s blocks with three apiece.
The win gives Brooks a 1-0 start to the season. They will return to McVeigh Court on September 26 at 2:30 p.m. to host Cushing Academy. Fans unable to attend in person can watch the game on the Brooks School livestream page.
