Overview

Volleyball - 2nd Team

Brooks was very excited to add volleyball to its list of athletic offerings for the first time in the school's history in 2018. The major focus during these building years will be on skill-building, principles of the game, and developing a positive team culture. Our aim is to develop a robust 1st and 2nd team program over the next few years, so special care will be given to develop young players and foster both a love for the game as well as strong team dynamics.

We believe that improvement is addictive so goal-setting, measuring progress, and giving personal feedback will be emphasized so that improvement may be recognized and celebrated. Through fundamental motor-skill development and adherence to consistent and simple principles, players will learn to approach the game with confidence.

Coaches

  • Head Coach

Douglas G. Burbank has been at Brooks since 1986, teaching a variety of courses in the mathematics, sciences, studio arts and technology disciplines. He is a graduate of Trinity College with an M.A.T. from Marlboro College. A native of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, where he was a private school faculty child, Burbank likes to play all the sports that include a ball and to lose himself being creative in his basement workshop on campus or at his log cabin in New Hampshire. He coaches boys 1st squash, girls 2nd volleyball and boys 2nd tennis. Previously, Burbank also coached boys 1st tennis and 1st soccer. He considers himself extremely fortunate to have coached New England champions in all three seasons. He and his wife Bobbie, who is director of athletics, live on campus. Their son, Andres, graduated from Brooks in 2011.

  • Assistant Coach

Brittany Fredette joined Brooks School in 2018 to teach history, provide support in The Learning Center and lead an afternoon study hall. Prior to Brooks, the southern New Hampshire native worked as a language arts, reading and speech teacher at the Landmark School, where she lived on campus for two years as a residential staff member in a girls dormitory. Fredette received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and English from St. Lawrence University, and her Masters of Education from Simmons College.
