Overview
Wrestling - All Gender
Welcome to the home of the 2014 Independent School League and New England Prep Team Champions. With our significant recent success, Brooks is one of the premiere wrestling programs in the Northeast. We were also home to three of the most dominant wrestlers in the history of New England Independent School wrestling: Charlie Davies '04 was a four-time New England finalist and three time champion; Kyle Harger '04 and Sean Bilodeau '07 were each four-time New England champions, and Bilodeau was a 2007 National Prep Champion. We have also had a number of other individual New England Champions in the recent past. These include Justin Davies ’07, Mike O’Boyle ’11, Conor Duffey ’11, Nate Gibeley ’14, Andrew Konovalchik ’14, Nicholas Konovalchik ’17 and Owen Rosenberger ’17. We are very proud of our wrestling tradition.
Brooks wrestling is dedicated to developing the total student-athlete, including mind, body and character. We believe that wrestling offers a great way to develop all of these strengths. Paramount emphasis is placed on discipline and achievement in the classroom. In the area of physical development, we focus on making progress in strength, conditioning and wrestling technique. In character development, we believe that the sport of wrestling offers wonderful training for life. We often take time to reflect upon life lessons that wrestling can teach our athletes.

CoachChristopher Barker joined Brooks School's coaching staff in an official capacity in 2019, having previously served as a volunteer coaching assistant for its wrestling program in 2017. His prior coaching experience included assisting with the North Andover Booster Club youth wrestling program and stints at Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School, where he was twice honored as the Eastern Independent League wrestling coach of the year, and Concord Academy, where he again earned EIL coach of the year distinction on two occasions. He feels fortunate to have wrestled during his high school days for legendary coach Heb Evans at Governor's Academy and later for renowned coach John Clark at St. Lawrence University. When not coaching at Brooks, Barker tutors students at The Fenn School in Concord, Mass. As founder and owner of Barker Tutoring Services, he also provides one-on-one math and SAT prep support to students in North Andover, where he lives with his wife, Jill. In his spare time he enjoys gardening, hiking and kayaking.
