Softball - Girls 1st Team

Brooks Softball has enjoyed great success over the years. As part of the Independent School League (ISL), Brooks dominated the league winning seven ISL titles in the span of 11 years. More recently, while the squad has not finished first, it has met it's goal of being competitive in every game.

With only a 1st team, there is a range of experience and abilities with a goal to develop every player while maintaining a high level of competition. We are fortunate to compete with the other nine schools in the ISL who offer softball as well as with some larger schools outside of the league, such as Phillips Andover, Phillips Exeter, Worcester Academy and St. Paul's School.

The season culminates with a two-day double elimination tournament, the Big East Invitational, co-hosted by Brooks and neighbor Phillips Academy. It's a great weekend of softball for all involved and a particularly fun way to wrap up the season.

The players enjoy a great team experience both on and off the field and compete hard on a daily basis. No matter the outcome of the game, Brooks competes hard in every contest with every member of the squad contributing through personal effort and determination. When possible, the team travels to Orlando, Florida to train at Disney’s Wide World of Sports.

Graduates have gone on to play at Princeton University, Hamilton College, Dartmouth College, Trinity College, Bates College, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Bryant University (D1) and most recently Brandeis University.

  • Andrea Perotti Heinze has been at Brooks since 1992 and has taught everything from algebra I to precalculus. She has a B.A. from Hamilton, serves as the associate head for student affairs and coaches girls 1st softball. She was born in northwestern Connecticut, and likes running, cooking, and hiking. She lives on campus with her husband Paul, a teacher, and their sons, Ben and Andrew.

  • Britt Hart Belcher graduated from Brooks in 2009. During her time, she was a soccer, basketball, and softball team captain and named league MVP for softball during her senior season. Hart was named to the Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic teams in 2007 and 2009. Following her high school career, Hart was a four-year starter for Bryant University. She was a mainstay inside the pitching circle over the course of her career, and is fifth all-time in wins and strikeouts. Hart works full-time as a marketing manager but was excited to be back on the Brooks campus coaching the sport she loves in 2019.
