Overview
Ice Hockey - Girls 2nd Team
From the moment the ice goes down at the end of the summer to the time it is replaced by turf in the spring, the Brooks rink sees a steady stream of dedicated hockey players and those just learning how to skate walk through its doors. The girls 2nd team is a melting pot of experience and abilities. No matter the skill level, every player improves immeasurably from the start of the season to the end. In addition, the 2nd team focuses on core principles, such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and hard work.
Student athletes are fortunate to have access to the exceptional on-campus athletic facilities at Brooks. Athletes at all levels have the opportunity to use the fully equipped weight room to improve strength and conditioning, and a fully-staffed training room is available to treat injuries big and small.
Coaches
-
CoachAn upstate New York native, Cora MacKenzie arrived to Brooks School in 2023 after serving as the assistant director for athletics, and then the assistant dean of students and dean of residential life, at Millbrook School in Millbrook, New York. At Millbrook, MacKenzie also served as a human development instructor, an advisor, a coach (to the girls JV ice hockey team and the girls varsity lacrosse teams) and a dormitory head. She graduated from the University of Vermont in 2016. At Brooks, MacKenzie is the associate director of student affairs, a Self in Community teacher, an advisor, and a coach in the girls ice hockey and lacrosse programs. She lives on campus and enjoys spending time outside with her yellow lab Piper, watching sports and exploring new places around the North Shore.

CoachA graduate of Merrimack College's class of 2021 with a bachelor’s of science in public health and a minor in psychology, Allison Beauchesne joined Brooks in the fall of 2021 and assumed the role of Library Coordinator in 2024. While at Merrimack, she was a mentor for first-year students, co-teaching a class with a faculty member during her junior and senior years. Beauchesne was also a teaching assistant for a freshman anatomy and physiology course during her senior year. Throughout her four years at Merrimack, the lifelong Massachusetts resident worked at the McQuade Library, was as a volunteer manager with the Merrimack women’s basketball team, a member of their women’s club hockey team and a part of the college's orientation staff. Prior to graduation, she was a member of the Honors Program on campus and served as a peer mentor for incoming Honors Students as well as an ambassador for the program. Currently an aspiring EMT and firefighter, Beauchesne spends her free time watching sports (especially Boston/New England teams and her beloved Bruins) and hanging out with friends, family and her dog, Sadie.
