Why Brooks?angled-img

A smiling young woman sits at a desk in a classroom, working on a laptop computer and surrounded by framed artwork and a map on the walls.

At Brooks, trying new things is celebrated.

Students thrive in our small, close-knit community that offers endless opportunities to explore and excel. Through our mission, "To provide the most meaningful educational experience our students will have in their lives," we foster an environment in which every student is encouraged to grow with confidence, curiosity and purpose.

Set on the scenic shores of Lake Cochichewick, our beautiful campus inspires students to live, learn and dream about the exciting futures that we are empowering them to create.

A Place to Grow

Brooks instills confidence in our students and encourages them to embrace new challenges, whether in one of our 21 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, on a New England Championship-winning team, or through transformative study abroad experiences on Exchange in Africa, Europe or South America.

Brooks hasn't just taught my daughter subjects; it's given her the space, expectations and support to grow into someone who takes ownership of her own life ... She has grown academically and become more independent in how she learns and how she thinks.”Cayson Zheng P’28

Structured for Success

With a student-to-teacher ratio of 5:1 and an average class size of 11, Brooks combines academic rigor with the personalized support and resources students need to thrive.

Brooks is a collaborative community in which students, faculty, advisors, dorm parents and coaches work together to navigate challenges and support one another's growth.

Intentionally small at 340 students — with 70 percent boarding from across the country and around the world — our community is close, allowing every person to be known and engaged.

Six-Days Strong

A young man in the foreground waves a large green and black flag, while a group of football players in green uniforms celebrate in the background on a grassy field.

Brooks' Monday-through-Saturday schedule creates a healthy balance of academic flexibility, structure and community connections. Morning-only classes on Wednesday and Saturday help ease the pace of the week, allowing students to maintain academic momentum without overcrowded weekdays.

This schedule leaves afternoons open for extracurricular activities and athletics. Evenings and weekends are enriched by engaging programs and events organized by our student affairs team, fostering a strong sense of community inside and outside the classroom.
