Complementing the classroom experience, Brooks helps each student reach their full potential with academic help, when needed, through work with our Learning Center team. 

“The goal is to be a resource to everybody at Brooks who needs some support, and our feeling is that everybody will need support at some point,” says Learning Center Director Karina Moltz. 

Learning Center faculty are available throughout the school day, Monday through Saturday. 

Evening study options, with faculty and peer tutors, are also available four times a week.

Students may engage with Learning Center faculty through regularly scheduled appointments, teacher referral, or simply seek them out when specific help is needed.

Faculty learning specialists comprise the group that provides:

• general academic counseling
• support for students with specific, documented needs
• study and organizational skills development
• time management help 
• writing support 
• learning strategy coaching

The Learning Center also coordinates assessment accommodations for qualifying Brooks students (Please reach out for more information).

Study Central

Set for completion in fall 2026, Brooks’ $6.7 million Luce Library renovation and Academic Commons project will reimagine the library as a hub for teaching, learning and academic support, including: 

• five modern classrooms with flexible layouts for collaborative and interdisciplinary learning
• study and technology support areas, including centers focused on writing  (staffed with English teachers and student-writing assistants) and quantitative strategies (staffed by a rotation of dedicated mathematics skills specialists)
• enhanced spaces for individual study, group projects and educational technology support

In addition to classrooms with rearrangeable furniture — and technology to suit teaching needs — the new Academic Commons will offer spaces designed to foster collaborative learning and provide accessible areas for students and faculty to connect, whether for academic guidance or informal meetings.
