Brooks Fund Exceeds Expectations

Despite a challenging economic climate, the extended Brooks community shattered all previous giving records during Fiscal Year 2010, donating a total of $2,448,824. The school couldn't have exceeded its goals without the outstanding support of its alumni, parent and student volunteers.

A Spring Concert

More than 100 students and faculty members graced the auditorium’s stage Monday night during the jam-packed Spring Concert, which featured most of the campus’ musical groups. A handful of students were also honored for off-campus musical achievements during the evening event.

Grandparent and Special Guest Day

Gordon Abbott ’45 was one of two Brooks alums back on campus for Grandparent and Special Guest Day this past Saturday. Bayard “Butch” Smith ’52 also enjoyed the spectacular day with his granddaughter, Susanna “Suki” Smith ’13. The weather was particularly nice, as beautiful spring flowers and foliage gleamed left and right, for all 100 guests.

EPA Environmental Merit Awards

Brooks School and its environmental mascot were honored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on April 22, better known as Earth Day. Brooks was one of 10 environmental, community, academic and nonprofit organizations to receive a 2010 Environmental Merit Award for its exceptional work and commitment to the environment.

The countdown is officially on. Sixth-formers recently marked the beginning of the end of their Brooks careers: In fewer than 100 days, they’ll officially be alumni. At the 100-Day Lunch, hosted by the Senior Class Gift Committee and the Alumni Office, sixth-formers enjoyed a bite to eat in the Frick while pledging their support to Brooks.

Saves for Cents

Touched by the passing of Brad Perkins '74, the Boys 1st Hockey Team is dedicating the upcoming season to him. Addititonally, community members can pledge to donate a certain amount of cents per save goalie Tyler Stillings '11 makes this upcoming hockey season through his Saves for Cents program. All donations will go to a fund for brain cancer research in Perkins' name at the Swedish Medical Center Foundation that his family created upon his passing.
