John Quirk Named Associate Head for School Affairs
Head of School John Packard announced the appointment of John Quirk as Associate Head for School Affairs. Quirk, the former dean of students, director of afternoon programs and athletic director assumed the position immediately following Packard’s announcement on July 18.

Student-Driven Experiment Minimizes Waste, Saves Money
During the final weeks of February 2008, the AP Environmental Science classes conducted an experiment where trays were removed from the dining hall for breakfast and lunch. Once the trays were removed, there was a 72 percent reduction in food liquid food waste and a 43 percent reduction in solid food waste. Additionally, by washing 800 fewer glasses and eliminating one tray per person per meal, 400-500 gallons of water was saved, using less dishwashing products and electricity in the process.
Located 30 miles north of Boston, Brooks is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12.
