Tuition and Financial Aid

Financial Aid
Brooks is committed to making education accessible to students from all backgrounds, regardless of financial means. We accomplish this goal by bridging the gap between what a family can afford and the actual cost of a Brooks education. Although we are unable to fund all families interested in Brooks, we understand the difficulty in financing an independent school education, and will do all that we can to help make this educational opportunity possible. Consequently, we are proud to award $2,900,000 in financial aid to students each year based on demonstrated financial need.

Because we cannot provide aid to all of our qualified applicants, Brooks will wait-list an applicant who qualifies for financial aid if we do not have both financial aid and a place available. Once an applicant who qualifies for financial aid has been wait-listed, both a place and financial aid must become available before that applicant will be taken off the wait-list. This policy is different from school to school. Please ask each school that you are applying to about their policy.

Those applicants interested in applying for financial aid should check the appropriate box on the application. Please click HERE to download the Brooks School Financial Aid instruction sheet and HERE to download the form 4506-T. We ask that you complete a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) on the School and Student Service Application Processing Center's website, www.sss.nais.org/parents, between Nov. 1 and Jan. 15. Applications received after that date are considered as long as funds remain available. Decisions on financial aid awards accompany acceptances and enrollment contracts.
Tuition and Incidental Charges
Charges for tuition and residences are fixed annually by the Board of Trustees. Other typical expenses include books (approximately $500 to $750), long distance telephone calls, and extra spending money. Less common are expenses associated with dormitory damage.

The business office annually publishes the Financial Information Booklet, which specifically outlines financial considerations and details associated with attendance at the school. The Financial Information Booklet is mailed to parents each year. Copies may also be obtained from the business office.

Topics include:
• Tuition and Incidental Expenses
• Tuition Refund Plan
• Linen and Laundry Charges
• Payment Plans and Schedules
• Sickness and Accident Insurance
Tuition for 2011-2012
Boarding Tuition: $47,555
Day Tuition: $35,575

Should I apply for financial aid?
If you do not believe that you can afford to pay the cost of a Brooks education, the answer is yes. If you do not qualify, we may call and ask if you want your son or daughter to be considered for admission without aid. READ MORE FAQs
