A Letter to Parents from the College Counseling Office

If our combined 30-plus years of experience has taught us anything as counselors, it is that students excel in this process when parents remain engaged and aware of what’s happening, while gradually turning over the keys to their students through the fifth-form spring and summer.

Unlike the secondary school application process, where parents generally dictated the timeline and handled the details, the college application process is one which is not likely to be successful if the student isn’t given the reins.
